June 16, 2025 – PrismaX, a pioneering robotics intelligence platform startup, today officially launched from development, announcing the successful completion of an $11 million funding round led by industry giant a16z CSX. The round also saw significant participation from the Stanford Blockchain Builder Fund, Symbolic, Volt Capital, Virtuals Protocol, and other angel investors. This strategic investment coincides with PrismaX’s public debut at a16z’s highly anticipated CSX Demo Day on June 3rd, marking a pivotal moment for the future of physical generative AI.
PrismaX was founded by a formidable duo, Bayley Wang and Chyna Qu, who bring together deep expertise in both robotics and decentralized technologies. Their shared vision is to address a foundational challenge hindering breakthrough advancements in physical AI: the scarcity of high-quality, diverse, and affordable visual datasets. Despite substantial venture capital inflows into the robotics sector, the industry has struggled to create an incentive structure that consistently yields the vast, varied data necessary to train sophisticated physical AI models.
“Scalability of visual datasets is hindering breakthrough advancements in robotics. That is why we are creating the ecosystem that will produce a dataset of diverse scenarios, highly generalizable compared to centralized data, which benefits from improved scalability and reduces data collection bias,” said Bayley Wang, Co-founder and CEO at PrismaX. “Through our decentralized incentive structure, PrismaX will create the path towards fully autonomous robots. Our platform will allow people to work with AI rather than be replaced by it. As the industry advances, it is important to remember that human capital is required to build the models necessary to continue scaling.”
PrismaX is building a first-of-its-kind decentralized infrastructure that ensures data diversity and authenticity by leveraging a global community of contributors. This innovative approach establishes a new standard for fair use in the industry, where the data that powers models generates revenue, which is then returned to the communities that create the data. The platform utilizes mechanisms like Proof-of-View and CLIP-based scoring to ensure the integrity and quality of human-generated content, rewarding users with tokens for their high-quality, task-specific data contributions.
The PrismaX platform is built upon three core pillars designed to create a powerful flywheel effect within the robotics industry:
- Data: Developing robust protocols and mechanisms to validate and incentivize the collection of large-scale visual data. This aims to enable robotics datasets to achieve the vast scale of text data, leading to unprecedented levels of accuracy and reliability for physical generative AI.
- Teleoperation: Defining a uniform standard for teleoperation, providing turnkey access to operators, payments, and software. This empowers robotics companies to scale quickly by reducing costly redundancies associated with siloed data collection efforts.
- Models: Collaborating with leading AI teams to build foundational models that will power increasingly autonomous robots. This amplifies the impact of PrismaX’s network by allowing operators to replace multiple physical workers while simultaneously increasing the quality and quantity of collected data.
“We were constantly impressed with Bayley's deep insight into robotics and the specific heterogeneous visual data necessary to accurately model physical space," said Gil Rosen, Managing Partner at Blockchain Builders Fund. "Coupled with Chyna's extensive blockchain expertise in leveraging crypto incentives to reliably crowdsource disparate data, PrismaX is uniquely positioned to build base layers for visual models. Our investment in PrismaX exemplifies our thesis on the extensive value blockchain technologies bring to the evolution of AI."
Soona Amhaz, Managing Partner at Volt Capital, added, “PrismaX is tackling a foundational gap in physical AI: access to high-quality visual datasets that are both affordable and scalable. As autonomy moves into the real world, it's clear current infrastructure falls short. Bayley and Chyna are exactly the kind of founders we back at Volt—visionaries building the rails for the next wave of intelligent systems."
The newly secured funds will be strategically deployed to build out PrismaX’s fleet, hone its teleoperations standards, and significantly expand its data collection portal. This will provide robotics firms with unparalleled access to a community of skilled teleoperators, enabling them to scale their visual datasets and develop smarter machines at an accelerated pace. PrismaX aims to attract AI enthusiasts drawn to novel data collection challenges and their potential impact, rewarding them for their invaluable contributions to foundational models.
By seamlessly combining supply-side data contributors with demand-side robotics and AI firms, PrismaX is poised to build the essential bridge between advanced robotics and mainstream adoption, unlocking the unrealized potential of autonomous systems in everyday tasks, from domestic chores to complex industrial and medical applications.
